Hoi An and scams

2013 December, The Long Trip - Vietnam, Hoi An

It was a short distance from the bus stop to the city center - around 1,5 km. It was easy to find a nice accommodation here.
It is an amazing place, the city center is by the river and in the evening all houses and restaurants are lid.
In the old town there you need to watch out for one scam - maybe more, but I only spotted one. On a free map which could be found in shops and restaurants is information that simply walking the streets is FREE. You need to buy a ticket only if you want to visit listed attractions. Unfortunately, near the Japanese bridge, security people almost forced you to buy a ticket. I had a map and I showed them what was written there - they allowed me to go. But many people bought a ticket or gave up further sightseeing. Inside are old buildings and shops.
Apart of that Hoi An is an excellent place to visit and has a lot to offer.

Quy Nhon - Vietnam

2013 December, The Long Trip - Vietnam Quy Nhon part II

Some more pictures from Quy Nhon. This town is a really good place for resting, enjoying time on the beach, having good food.
Many minivans to Hoi An go often, the ticket costs 140,000.00 VND (4.8e) and the journey took around 6 hours. There is an agency near the bus terminal or you can simply buy the ticket inside the terminal. Just make sure that the bus or minivan is going to the city as some of them are just passing Hoi An and will leave you on motorway.

Quy Nhon Town

2013 December, The Long Trip - Vietnam, Quy Nhon

The town is a night ride drive from Saigon. It is a really small town. When I arrived people were surprised to see a foreigner :-)
I chose  the first hotel I found near the beach. I read that I should find an old tank on the beach. Unfortunately, the tank was removed and destroyed by government. The reason was that it attracted too many lightnings which damaged fisherman devices.
On the beach were funny, round, small boats which look like a shell.
The town has a lot monuments and communism posters.
