Miss Corong Corong

2013 November, The Long Trip - Philippines, El Nido

I booked my accomodation in Corong Corong as I was told it has better access to the beach.
I stayed in Island Front II with free internet and water. The beach was small but in 20 minutes long walk you could get to plaży Los Cabanos, a really good one for swimming. Near the Los Cabanos I found a peninsula with a small reef and colorful fish.
In the evening near to my place a contest of Miss Corong Corong took place. This event finished late at night, a local band played. The show was nice and quite well prepared.

It was hard to wake up the following day so I just enjoyed a walk and dinner on the beach in El Nido.

El Nido by bus

2013 November, The Long Trip - Philippines, El Nido

If you want to pay less money you need to spend almost the whole day travelling from Puerto Princessa to El Nido.
Once more I traveled to the New Market - San Jose bus terminal for 10 PHP from AA Plaza Hotel by minivan. Every 1 hour there is a bus to El Nido (2 companies provide transport) and the journey is around 6-7 hours long. Most of buses is comfortable with AC. It cost 370 PHP. Other option is to take a minivan which costs between 500 - 700 PHP. You can bargain with driver, they leave once they're full. The way to El Nido is via Corong Corong so if you booked accommodation there you can ask the driver to stop there.
My journey was quite fast and the driver wasn't as crazy as those from minivans:-) On the way to El Nido you have awesome views. I believe it would be worth travelling by Jeepney but I didn't have time to try it. The bus terminal in El Nido is 20 minutes walk or 5 minutes by tricycle from the town. The price is 50 PHP per person for tourists and 10 PHP for locals so if you are good you will pay less:-)

Philippines - Honda Bay and Island Hopping

2013 November, The Long Trip - Philippines, Honda Bay

It works the same way as with the Underground River - you can either book a tour 1300 PHP or did yourself.
Honda Bay is only 40 minutes ride by bus. If you are with a group of friends, more than 3 people, it is better to organise everything. You need to get to Honda Bay, rent a boat, buy entrance tickets to islands you wish to visit.
I did it with the tour agency and it was my mistake. The picked me up from my location but the guide was horrible. She tried to tell jokes but it wasn't funny. We stopped before Honda Bay and all people whi needed equipment (masks, pipes and boots) rent it for 150PHP as she arranged. I had everything so I was fine but in Honda Bay rental proce was 50PHP less:-) per a piece of equipment.
We had only 2 good places for snorkeling and 2 for enjoying our time on the beach.
Water wasn't clear as it was after big rain and the typhoon.
After the tour I went to Robinson Mail - a new mall in Puerto Princesa - it was Sunday and a Catholic mass was celebrated inside. I was surprised that a lot of people attended it and afterwards,  they spent time shopping or visiting cafes.
