What to see in Inle Lake

2014 January, The Long Trip - Myanmar, Inle Lake

We decided to hire a boat to see Inle Lake for the whole day. There are many agencies and people offers a boat for whole day. Before I met tourists wo they told me that they were charged by a hotel 35,000 MMK (35 USD). Other paid 15,000 MMK (15 USD) directly to the boatmen. One small agency tried to charge us 14,000 MMK (14 USD) but we paid 13,000 MMK (13 USD) to one local boatman.
Our boat trip started in Nyaungshwe. The boatman speak poor English but he had an English/Myanmar list of all places to visit and we just pointed them to him. Apart of fishermen, Inle Lake offers the Cat Monastery - but as I was told cats do not jump anymore. There are also a few workshops, ie. silver, cigar, umbrella workshop shop and a market where local people tried to sell suvenirs from small boats. One amazing place for me was a post office from where I sent two postcards. The second incredible place was a floating garden where we saw many different vegetables. It was amazing to see how people adapted to live on this lake.

Let's start the trip - with my friends
