Transport in Myanmar

2014 January, The long Trip - Myanmar, Transport

After some trips in Asia I wasn't sure if anything surprises me when it comes to transport of both people and goods. After visiting Myanmar I know that I still can be surprised. When we traveled by pick ups, apart of benches, they were equipped in small plastic chairs for people. When we hitchhiked I was sometimes standing at the back or even seating on the roof. I also saw a lot of old or self made cars. They are masters in packing goods.

Sunrise at Shwe-san-daw Pagoda

2014 January, The long Trip - Myanmar -Bagan

It was time to see the sunrise in Bagan. A lot of people want to visit Bagan to see the sunrise. We woke up early and at the street we found a one way 2,500 MMK (2.5USD). We expected something amazing and we found it there. After the sun went up some people started slowly going back to hotels - we stayed and we saw balloons. They were flying with the rising sun in the background and it was spectacular. On the way back, tourist police helped us to stop a car and we went for free to our hostel.
The rest of our day we spent visiting more temples and places around Bagan.

Sunset at Shwe-san-daw Pagoda

2014 January, The Long Trip - Myanmar, Bagan

We spent another day in Bagan visiting temples - surprise, surprise:-) What else can be done in Bagan:-)?
But it was another amazing day.
An entrance fee of either 10 USD or 10,000.00 MMK or 10 Euro for tourists has to be paid. We hitchhiked from one temple to another, what was quite easy - even for more than 2 people. In every place we saw there were shops. Apart of that there were people trying to sell sapphires or rubies. We almost made a deal with one of them. In my opinion, all products are fake because they were selling it near a policeman and they agree on a very low price if you bargain.
The last stop was at Shwe-san-daw Pagoda which is the most amazing spot for sunset. My friends told me that one policeman checked their tickets but when I entered it, no one asked me for a ticket.
The top level was the best though, very crowded.
