Summary of my Long Trip

2014, May The Long Trip - THE END

This is the end. Almost 2 months passed from the day I finished my trip. I must say I did what I planned to do. Now I wanted to present a short movie summing it up. My trip started in September 2013 in New Zeeland. Afterwards, I visited China, South Korea, Japan, Palau, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Myanmar, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Australia which took almost 6 months. I spent an amazing time and met a lot of incredible people. Some of my adventures can be founded on my blog.
Enjoy the movie! I need to find a new destination - any idea?

Mandalay Airport

2014 January, The Long Trip - Myanmar - Mandalay

When I checked all information about Myanmar I found that this is place is kind of military place or regime place. I was at the airport before 6 am because my bus from Inle Lake arrived so early. I took a taxi for 12,000 MMK (12 USD) from the bus terminal to the airport. I was surprised because of people working (sleeping) inside opened the door for me and I could rest and sleep inside. Wi-fi worked fine. Emigration and baggage control went smoothly and I was waiting for my plane. Either didn't they check if I had any rubies or sapphires or they did it in the way I didn't spot it. Near the gates were some shops and bars where they accepted card payments. Unfortunately, they had own exchange rate when you pay in US Dollars or by card.
I wish I'm back there soon as I didn't explore it.
If someone has time in April and would like to join me - let me know.

Fishermen on Inle Lake

2014 January, The Long Trip, Myanmar - Inle lake

At the beginning of the lake are a few fishermen who instead of catching fish they caught tourist to pay for the photos of them.:-)
Some of them had a boat with a small engine (usually covered by some clothes) but many of them had only paddle boats.
As the lake is big enough we found many real fishermen doing theirs job and fishing instead of posing for photos. This place is amazing and they it looks really great when they paddle with one leg only.

What to see in Inle Lake

2014 January, The Long Trip - Myanmar, Inle Lake

We decided to hire a boat to see Inle Lake for the whole day. There are many agencies and people offers a boat for whole day. Before I met tourists wo they told me that they were charged by a hotel 35,000 MMK (35 USD). Other paid 15,000 MMK (15 USD) directly to the boatmen. One small agency tried to charge us 14,000 MMK (14 USD) but we paid 13,000 MMK (13 USD) to one local boatman.
Our boat trip started in Nyaungshwe. The boatman speak poor English but he had an English/Myanmar list of all places to visit and we just pointed them to him. Apart of fishermen, Inle Lake offers the Cat Monastery - but as I was told cats do not jump anymore. There are also a few workshops, ie. silver, cigar, umbrella workshop shop and a market where local people tried to sell suvenirs from small boats. One amazing place for me was a post office from where I sent two postcards. The second incredible place was a floating garden where we saw many different vegetables. It was amazing to see how people adapted to live on this lake.

Let's start the trip - with my friends
