The King birthday and Patong bay

2013 December, The Long Trip - Thailand

The 5th December is a special day for Thai people. It is their King's Birthday. If you offend the king you will go to the jail. That's why all protests in Bangkok stopped to celebrate it. Patong Bay is a perfect destination near Phuket. All day tour go via Patong. There is a lot of restaurants, shops, accommodation and there is a long beach too. The bus stop is located near the beach and it costs 30 THB (less than 1e) from Phuket.On the main street, near the beach a huge and colourful parade took place. All hotels and resorts sent staff to take part in it. The same kind of parade was in Phuket too.

Kata Beach

2013 November, The Long Trip - Thailand, Phuket, Kata Beach

One beach in Kata was recommended as a good one for snorkeling. A local bus took me to Kata Noi for 35 THB (less than 1 euro). It was 40 minutes ride. It was another windy day. The place was great, a big sandy beach, sunbeds and blue water. Unfortunately, the sea was rough and water wasn't clear. On the left hand side are rocks where I snorkelled there.In the evening I went to the Blue Elephant restaurant as you could cook your dinner inside. Unfortunately, they had a private event for Total company.
