Cambodia - Koh kher

2013 December, The Long Trip - Cambodia, Koh Kher

You need to take a taxi to visit Koh Ker which wasn't so easy for me. I tried via different agencies and the best price they gave me it was 55 USD for two people.
On the street the taxi driver told me 120 USD. We agreed to visit Koh Kher and Beng Maelea.
Koh Kher is around 130 km from Siem Reap so it would be hard to go with tuk tuk. Beng Maelea is around 70 km from Siem Reap and one tuk tuk driver asked for 35 USD.
I didn't try to put the price down as I decided to visit two places not only one.
At 8 am the following day the taxi driver was waiting in my hostel. It was around 2 hour drive with beautiful Cambodian landscape around.
The entrance fee to Koh Kher is 10 USD and to Beng Maelea 5 USD. Koh Kher, I guess due to the distance from Siem Reap, wasn't crowded. I had time to enjoy this place.
Even people selling goods were more relaxed and once I said that I didn't need to buy anything they understood it.
It's a very high temple. Unfortunately, it is forbidden to climb to the top.
You will find around 100 temples in the area. We visited only few, e.g. Prasat Sralao, Prasat Beng, Prasat Banteay Pir Chean, Prasat Chrap and the most amazing Prasat Pram.
All of those temples are affected by jungle and the last one is probably the most famous one.
It was occupied by Red Khmer and they tried to destroy it and put a lot of mines. Even now, a lot of mines are still there and Cambodian soldiers together with German and French have tried to remove them.
Unfortunately, I couldn't find any map of Koh Ker so I didn't explore it on my own.

Cambodia - a sunrise in the temple

2013 December, The Long Trip, Cambodia - Siem Reap

Although, a lot of tuk tuk drivers offered their service I chose to use bicycle instead. Temples are not too far. 3 days ticket costs 40 USD and its valid for 5 days. You can choose 3 random days in 5 days period. They take a photo of you and you are free to visit this amazing place. The ticket office is open from 5 am so if you wish to see a sunrise on the first day you can do that.
It is a huge area with a lot of ruined temples. The first day I visited Bayon temple which is incredible. It is located inside a huge area surrounded by a wall. There are four gates and four roads to this complex.
I will try to provide only a few pictures from each temple I visited. Bayon is known because of faces carved on each tower. Many more temples built in the same style can be found across the complex.
The same day I visited temples on the Elephant Terrace. Prasat Ta Prohm is amazing with a lot of trees and branches. For the sunset I went to Prasat Pre Rup.

On the way
