To our surprise, a tourist imformation at the Lima airport was open at night. The office is on the first floor and the lady working there was so helpful. She checked for us an availibity of tickets to Machu Picchu and they had stil many of them. She told us that the train tickect we can buy near to gate no. 13 after check-in. The office was open all night too.
We landed in Cuzco around 6am. As everywhere, there were many taxi drivers offering their services. The cheapest one to the Regional the Cultura on Frente Estadio Universitario cost 25 Sole, the most expensive one 40 Sole. We found a taxi outside the airport for 10 Sole. Probably, we could find a cheapest one but we were in a hurry to buy our Machu Picchu tickets. We managed to it.
We also bought one way train ticket we walked to look for transport to Ollantaytambo as we bought a train ticket from there. It was cheaper for us and we had time to get there.
On the Pavitos Street, in the garages we found a private car going to our place. It cost 20 Sole for two. Going by bus we would have paid 12 Sole per two and would have had to change a bus in Urubamba.
The trip by train was amazing. The route leaded through a valley.
We had magnificent views on mountains peaks. On the train they served snacks and drinks. The only thing which suprised us was the limit for baggage, 5 kg per person. Fortunately, they provide free of charge baggage storage. In our destination Aguas Calientes we found our hostel and went to check the route to Machu Picchu. We met a Polish couple from London and we spent the evening together.
Around 9 pm we went back to our hostel as the next day would have start for us at 5am
