2011 January - Malta

Something about CouchSurfing
On Decmber 2010 I join to CouchSurfing community. What is CS? The answer could be found here:

First time I’ve hosted someone in January and he was a French guy who lives in Scotland.

He was in my flat for few days but this time I didn’t have enough time to spend with him and on the last day when we had time to go for a drink, he decided to take a photos than to spend time with us. But usually people want to spend time with you and you can learn something about different cultures.

My second quest was Agnieszka, she was a very open person. She spent time with us telling some stories and listening about ours adventures. And know I will host more and more. If you wish to find me my nick name is Nico_pl

Victoria Lines
With my friend we decided to walk all way from Mosta to Mgarr. I had some information about this route. For me good starting point was the Mosta Church. From this place we went in the direction to St. Paul’s Bay and we turned left into Isouard Settenbru Street. At the end of this street we turned right into Triq I-Espenanza and found the Esperanza Chapel.

We stopped there for a moment and moved along.  We crossed a bridge and  we turned left into second street, it was Bezbizija Street. The next left one was Delia Street. That walk was still near buildings and except the chapel there wasn’t anything intresting. Delia Street changed to Patri Guze Street which finished on a bypass. We crossed it but it wasn’t a good place to do it and we took a small road going up. This road was in bad condition but there weren’t too many cars and too many buildings. We walked main road, on a small hill we turned to the left.

Then we reached another ‘bypass’ which we crossed and took another small road. It was a beginning of a countryside. The road was in a bad condition but for walk it was good. The first one was the right turn and then a way up the hill, next was a left turn and a nice view for Mdina and Ta-Qali with the Soccer Stadium. When we left a small forest and walked about 200 meters we turned right into a small sandy road and after 20 meters we saw defensive walls. It was the Victoria Line.

Our way was really wild because there was a small foot path but probably used ages ago. All the way we were outside the Victoria Lines looking how big is the moat and trying get on the another side. It wasn’t easy because the moat was very deep and defensive wall was very high.

We walked for an about 1 hour and we found some good place to climb and we did it. When we got on the other side the way was really easy.

We found some residues battle stations and near Dwejra there was a really nice old wall a with path for soldiers and now used by tourists – it is called the Bingemma Bridge.

We decided to go to the Fort Bingemma but we couldn’t go near the Victoria Lines, so we walked on the street.

Near this fort is a Nadur Tower and there isn’t any information how to get to the fort. Now I know that the fort is inside a private area. Our walk was finished in Mgarr where we caught a bus to Valletta.

The next week I chose another way to Dwejra. At the place when last time we turned right into a sandy road I changed it and took this main road. There was an old bridge and a sign informing about the way to Dwejra.

When you turn left you will get there by walking all the time on the main road, but when you turn right you will get near Victoria Lines but on the another side where we have been the first time
